About me

ABOUT ME Basically, my name is Ben Daniel Badua Cachapero, or just Ben, BJ, or Beej. I’m 21 years old, Filipino, from the Bay Area (SF, CA). I am a full time student at a very Christian college in the Napa Valley called Pacific Union College, where I am currently studying in my 5th quarter (out of six) in the nursing program, as well as studying in Music disciplined in woodwinds (flute, reeds, and double-reeds) and classical voice. 

I grew up in a Filipino Christian household in the suburbs of San Francisco, CA. We sang a lot of Karaoke, ate a lot of pancit and lumpia, and drank a lot of beer. Not really. ;) I went to good suburbial public schools all my life that was later taken over ignorant, annoying, ghetto children and teenagers. I wish I could exterminate their minds with Jesus so that they could turn into preppy school children who listened to everything their teachers say. But that would never happen. At my amazingly boring high school, there was a lot of drinking and smoking pot. I had friends who drank, smoked, and did other miscellaneous activities, but I chose to succumb to the straight-edge atmosphere of my nerdy Asian friends. I don’t talk to a lot of people from high school that got caught up in that depressing scene because I know that they will soon deteriorate into vegetables who I will have to take care of—people with chronic Hepatitis, people with lung cancer, people with liver cancer, people with Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; people who will ultimately die due to their inability to control their cravings of the minimalist life in combination with their overwhelming ignorance. 

INTERESTS I swam competitively since I was six, but I abandoned that when I turned 18 because of the pressure. I was pretty good, but just not good enough. I play around 13 instruments now—flute, alto flute, piccolo flute, bass flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, soprano sax, alto sax, tenor sax, baritone sax, bassoon, and piano. I started in the 5th grade (which was later than usual) but I have loved it ever since. I love making music with groups. It’s the best feeling ever. 

I love musicals. Yes, I really do love them! Spring Awakening, Next to Normal, Avenue Q, and Book of Mormon are my favorite musicals currently. LOL. I love singing. I took classical voice lessons in college for the first time (not ever taking any type of music lessons) and it was fun. I stopped taking lessons because Nursing school just took over my life. :D

I am a Christian. I love God with all my heart, my body, and my soul. I read my Bible every morning, noon, and night—or I try to! I like to label myself as more spiritual than religious, and there really is a difference. Look it up.

Last year I had the great inclination to put together an A Cappella cover group, informally named «NOTE THIS» that preforms pop/rock/contemp. christian/chill music. I am currently surviving as the conductor, arranger, president, and business manager of the group. However, it’s killing me. :) However, due to the intesnity of my schedule, i have disbanded it. I’m sad. 

FUTURE PLANS You might  see a lot of music-based posts, especially A Cappella music. It’s my love forever and ever. After Mursing school (since I will be a male nurse, hence Murse), I plan to move to the east coast, hopefully NYC (Brooklyn or Manhattan… hahaha), Washington DC, or Boston to pursue my music degree in arrangement and composition, classical voice, vocal jazz, music theory, woodwind studies, conducting, or music education. I really have not decided yet. But while doing that I’ll be hopefully working by then. 

MANNERSI have no manners. Of course I’m kidding! I am a very reserved person if I meet you for the first time, but I tend to show my quirky, loud, and surprising side once I start getting comfortable with you—around 5-30 min depending on how awesome you are. Honestly. I can be funny, but I tend to be more of a teaser, playful, awkward, and sometimes dirty. I also tend to act 12 years old, however, I can quickly switch to 30 if needed. Im a versatile person. And no I’m not bipolar. 

WHAT I POST My tumblr is full of randomness. Harry Potter and HP influenced topics have been lately spamming my posts due to my overwhelming love for the series of books and movies. I usually post about the randomness of the day, as well as certain problems that need venting and attention. I tend to stand up to many of my opinions and beliefs, so one might find me posting intense opinions. Nursing school has also taken over life, so you’ll see a great deal of nursing posts. And nostalgia is always a must ;). I have been lately been getting in to men’s fashion—and now i’m addicted to LOOKBOOK.nu— s well as health and fitness so you might see those posts.
